For the past 2 nights we have been trying to get Liam to sleep on his own in his own room. We've had so many different sleeping situations since he was born I wasn't sure how he would handle it. We've been trying the cry it out method for awhile now which is hard for me to listen to. He is making improvement though. His new room is cozy and peaceful, he really likes it. The first night Brody and I were up and down with him and last night he was up twice once at 12 and at 4 then up at 7, not to bad all things considered. We'll see how tonight goes. Think good sleeping thoughts for us all.

New Years Eve at the Sundquist-Shuck House

This year we are laying low for the New Year, just spending time in our new house with Liam. Its been really cold in Palmer for the last few days so Liam and I have been staying in doors. We both still have a cold, it just keeps hanging on. Brody's going to get a couple of movies and a bottle of champagne and that will be great. Here are a couple of pictures I snapped from our upstairs window this afternoon. Does it look below zero out their cause its actually 20 belo

First Christmas
This is officially our first post to the blog of Liam. For Christmas this year we went to our friends, the Dykstra's, home. We woke up kind of late and after talking with all the relatives we had some breakfast, a lite meal, not like last year. I went all out last year and made us a big breakfast. But then it was only Brody and I and I was very pregnant. This year we spent the morning together just hanging out as a family having our first Christmas quietly in our new house. Then it started to snow, the small fast flakes that denote a good storm is on the rise. We debated whether or not to make the 2 hour drive to Girdwood or not and after calling the road report 10 million times we decided to go but to pack for ov
er night (just in case). The roads weren't bad and Liam fell asleep shortly after we left Palmer. We saw some accidents on the highway but we just took it slow and trucked along. I love my Toyota Camry, its an old car but dependable and really gets you where you need to go. We made it to Girdwood with no mishaps and Dykstra home was alive with the activity of newly opened gifts and the smell of food cooking. Julia made this great soup with roasted garlic and some kind of funky cheese that was really rich and really good. The day went on well and the snow kept falling into the night so we decided to stay. We stayed up late into the night talking and laughing, it felt good to be social and hang out. Dinner was great, the company was good and Liam loved the other kids. He really loves to watch them and is way more interested in them than adults.
Brody says he hates Christmas but I think deep down he really likes it once he gets into it. He insisted on not saying Merry Christmas on the cookie plates I made for friends this year as gifts so we settled on Yuletide Greetings instead. I thought it sounded great and in my research about "Yule" I found yule logs that people bake. I want to do that next year.
